Can I make a quick suggestion?

It’s common in today’s marketplace to have your work/stuff/project/widget/really-cool-beta-web-2.0-application/art/whatever critized and critiqued. In saying “criticized and critiqued” I really mean “shredded like slow roasted BBQ pork in an industrial blender.” Maybe it’s part of today’s cynicism or something like that but you can usually spot one of these “forward thinking critics” by one the comments they say right before they rip your guts out and set them on fire. Here are some common things that I hear when people are reviewing your work/project/whatever…
“I’m going to play devils’ advocate…” If you hear this phrase uttered watch out – that person is ready to stick a grenade in your belly and run. The only reason they say it is so that they can obliterate whatever you’re working on without you being mad and without everyone else saying, “gosh, what a jerk.”
“I’m not sure if I like ____.” [...]
